Would you like to speak with our Bromley hypnotist before you decide to go ahead?
You have come to this page because you are considering stopping smoking at our Bromley hypnotherapy branch. You will probably want to know how hypnosis works, and to do that you should certainly read the information about it we provide on the other pages you will see linked from this one. Having done that, the next stage will be to talk with a counsellor at our national advice service on 0121 318 9318. If we feel, then that we can help you, we will have our Bromley hypnotist call you for a chat about you, and they way they work.
It's important to establish a good relationship between client and therapist from the beginning, and for this reason our Bromley hypnotherapist, Nikki, will be happy to have this conversation before either of you commits. Having done that, by the time you arrive for your appointment you will both know it is likely to go well.
One piece of advice we want to offer here is that when you are with our hypnotherapist in Bromley you don't miss the opportunity to ask them anything you might still be unsure about. It is important, for example, that you have a good appreciation of how the therapy is going to work, and Nikki will be happy to go through that again if necessary.
Our Bromley hypnotherapy branch is an integral part of National Stop Smoking Centres, and we work as a team with all of our therapists, which is perhaps one of the reasons you are coming to us for help, as opposed to seeing an independent Bromley hypnotist. We want to emphasise here that we are NOT a referral service, and that we provide a service through our national network of members because we know that teamwork produces better results. If you are looking to stop smoking in Kent with hypnosis, we trust you will appreciate this difference.
If you are going to have acupuncture, of course all the above will also apply, and we can have our Bromley acupuncturist call you to get started on this.
Bromley stop-smoking therapists and the National Health Service.
When you're looking for help with quitting smoking, you naturally think of the NHS first. This is completely understandable, not just because you go to your GP for other health problems, but because they advertise their Bromley smoking cessation service so heavily. The issue is not, though, whether you go private or to the NHS but what each sector can offer you. The NHS doesn't provide therapy for smokers, so if you want to stop smoking with acupuncture or hypnosis in Bromley there is no choice but to go private for it, and that is why we are here.
How our Bromley acupuncturist will help you to stop smoking.
You might not be familiar with how acupuncture works specifically in smoking cessation, so here is a quick explanation. Because you are addicted to nicotine, you need to smoke to satisfy the craving, and because of that you come to believe you NEED to smoke and can't stop. Acupuncture relieves the withdrawal symptoms you get when you don't smoke, and this works because if you don't have a craving it is easy simply to not smoke. When you attend our Bromley acupuncture branch you will have multiple treatments, depending on the way we work there. Our acupuncturist in Bromley, for example, will give you three treatments, and you may need all of these to stop smoking completely or you may only need the last one for reassurance.
Getting advice on the help that's available:
If you have tried to get advice from QUIT or the NHS national smokers' helpline, you might by now be wondering where you can get impartial advice. We often hear complaints about these services, and the reason for this is that both of them are tied in with the pharmaceutical companies who make nicotine replacement products and psychotropic drugs (Zyban and Champix).
If you ring either service, and for example ask them if they can recommend a Bromley hypnotist, they will refuse. This is because hypnotherapy competes with their sponsors' products, and they are not allowed to discuss it. So when the NHS tells you that the only proven smoking cessation technique is nicotine replacement products and psychotropic drugs, just remember who is paying them to say that.
If you are looking for a Bromley hypnotherapist, when you call us you will not be speaking to Bromley at all. The reason for this is that we want to assess your needs before we even discuss whether we will offer you hypnotherapy to stop smoking.
Bromley smoking cessation news, 5/12/2016.
Our fee has been kept for 2017 at the same level as the past year, which is £190. Each year, we review the fee at every branch, in order to balance our need to provide sufficient income for ourselves to maintain our service to the public, and our commitment to providing that service at a fee that as many smokers as possible can afford to help them to stop (or cut down, if that is what they want).
A comparison of charges for stopping smoking in Bromley.
It is our job not only to provide a better Bromley smoking cessation service than the NHS can but to do so at a fee that most, if not all, smokers can afford. We don't compare the cost of therapy to that of NHS drugs, because therapy and drugs cannot be compared. Therapy will always be more successful. We don't compete with the NHS, because most smokers will only pay for therapy when they have failed to stop smoking with drugs (although we do see a fair number who simply refuse even to try the drugs).
A better comparison, if you have decided to stop smoking with hypnotherapy, is to compare the NSSC fee with those of independent Bromley hypnotists. We looked at a number of therapists advertising here, and found that a small number charge less than us, one or two charge about the same, and some charge rather more, so we are satisfied that we are providing a special service at the right cost.
A case history from our Bromley hypnosis branch.
Sharon was only 23 years old when she contacted us. We are always pleased to hear from younger smokers, and when Sharon called us we gave her every encouragement to stop smoking. Her primary problem, as it is with many young smokers, was that many of her friends were smokers too and she felt they were unlikely to be supportive of her stopping, especially in social / drinking situations, which unsurprisingly she was in with them pretty regularly. It was courageous of her to go for it under these circumstances. Our Bromley hypnotherapist built some resources into the therapy that Sharon could use to help her with with this specific issue, and the NSSC AfterCare team supported her decision not to be affected by her smoking friends. She succeeded immediately, then she had a slip up and needed to see us again, and that mistake was what she needed to learn the lesson.
If you have been to your dentist in Bromley recently, you may have seen they now display leaflets from National Stop-Smoking Centres. They may even have given you one, if they are concerned about your smoking, which all dentists are. In this area, the following dental practices currently have NSSC leaflets available:
Beckenham Dental Clinic, 233-235 High Street, Beckenham, Kent, BR3 1BN

Psychological dependence, what it is and what it does to you.
Dependence on smoking keeps people smoking in three ways:
It stops them trying to stop.
It stops them succeeding when they try.
It makes them go back when they have stopped.
Being dependent on something is not necessarily a bad thing. Dependence is what makes us form relationships and have families. The interdependency involved in these relationships is completely normal.
You have learned why and how you came to be addicted to nicotine, and now it's time to understand how that makes you dependent on smoking cigarettes and why this is a bad thing. In a nutshell it's a bad thing because being dependent on smoking is a terrible contradiction. It's not the comforting dependence that two people have when they love each other, it's the dependence one person has for another person who abuses them. Tobacco involves a love-hate relationship - you love it and it hates you. The function of tobacco is very simple. It is to make you and keep you dependent for the profit of others. It confers no benefit on the user and makes no claim to do so. It is, in fact, the only product sold legally on the planet that does this. Without the dependence of the users, the manufacturers would simply stop operating.
It is not, clearly, a normal relationship in the world of business. A company that knowingly sold a product that killed a consumer, I mean A consumer, not 300 a day in the UK alone, would be charged with corporate manslaughter. Tobacco companies not only kill their customers but they even tell them they're going to do it. That, by the way, is a very clever trick on the part of the government. The health warning on the pack enables the pushers to claim that they warned you but you still bought it out of free choice, so you can't have a claim against them in the courts. The government, bless them, by making health warnings on cigarette packs compulsory, did the manufacturers a huge favour in protecting them from their victims. They're not as daft as they look, are they?
And the real issue here is that the pushers say you have a free choice about using the product. It's like a man who abuses his wife saying she can always leave him, knowing she's too scared to do that. Because dependence is actually very very serious. It means much more than you might think. It means that tobacco has control of you. A lot of smokers say they know this but actually even they, the honest ones, don't realise how serious that control is. Because, obviously, if they did, they would do something about it. The sad thing is that a lot of smokers, the young ones, have no idea what's being done to them, that they are selling their souls to the tobacco companies. They might think they are rebelling by smoking when everyone tells them not to, but actually they're doing exactly the opposite, they're doing precisely what a group of multinational corporations want them to do.
(more to come)
Is NSSC better than other hypnotists in Bromley?
We are of course better than many, but we can't say we're the best, partly because there is no way of comparing us with other Bromley hypnotists and partly because what does better or best mean anyway? We set high standards for therapy, standards that are constantly monitored at every branch, so you can be sure our Bromley hypnotist is not only as good as any you will find but she is regularly assessed for the quality of the service she provides as part of the NSSC team.
It isn't possible to compare services for smoking cessation in Bromley provided by the NHS with therapy, because therapy, by definition, will always work better than pharmaceutical products. Any hypnotist in Bromley has this advantage to start with.
Is a hypnotist the same as a hypnotherapist?
Our Bromley hypnotherapist is called that because she provides therapy, whereas someone calling themselves a hypnotist might not do therapy. Google doesn't seem to differentiate, because if you searched for Bromley hypnotists it will have assumed you also want to see hypnotherapists, which of course you did, even if you didn't necessarily know if there is a difference. Any hypnotist working in our field is going to refer to themselves as a stop-smoking hypnotherapist in Bromley, or something similar to that, although it is true to say that the great majority of Bromley hypnotherapists offer smoking cessation hypnosis, even if they don't necessarily specialise in it, which of course all NSSC branch therapists do.
If you have come to this page hoping we are the National Health Service, or that perhaps the NHS provides smoking cessation in Bromley with therapy, neither is true. However, while you are here let us point you in the direction of sources of help; here are some further resources for stopping smoking in Kent:
For a list of other Kent stop-smoking services, visit Stop Smoking UK.
To find other acupuncturists for smoking cessation in Bromley, visit the British Acupuncture Council's website. Please be aware that most acupuncturists do not in fact provide a smoking cessation service, and you might well find that ours is the only one who does in this area.
If you want to try stopping smoking with pharmaceutical products, rather than therapy, you can buy NRPs at any chemist or supermarket, but for more serious products, like Champix, you will need a prescription. See your GP, or contact the following:
